Dutch Floral Arrangements 1 (DFA-1) (practical course)

This professional course till flower designer gives a good start on your (new) job as professional floral designer. This is the basic course for the professional florist in the Netherlands.

What do you learn: Vase and Plate arrangement, Table decoration, Corsages, Wedding bouquets, Spray for mourning arrangement, Gift arrangement, Hand tied bouquet, Wall decoration and Theme arrangement.
Techniques to learn are: sticking, pinning, wiring and glueing techniques.
You learn to work with different containers, with Oasis, chicken wire and Sphagnum.
Included is to learn the use of ribbon, attributes and accessories.
For theory there you learn about Design, Colour and Nomenclature.
The examination consists of a practice of 5 arrangements.

Dutch Floral Arrangements 2 (DFA-2) (Theoretical course)

This important advanced course is een must for every floral designer. It is a perfect professional base for the profession as independent florist. It is the advanced basic course in the Netherlands.

You learn besides the practical designing of DFA-1 also the basics of: Professional skills, Calculation, Business administration, Knowledge of flower retail, Sales promotion, Nomenclature and knowledge of materials, Advice to customers, Presentation and shop window dressing, Colour, Design, Composition and basics of art history.
After following this course you are able to start a flower shop and you have a good knowledge of the basic theory and practice of the floral profession.
The examination consists of a practice of 5 arrangements (same as DFA-1) and a theoretical examination.

Advanced Dutch Floral Arrangements 1 (ADFA-1) (practical course)

This professionele advanced course is especially ment for those who want to improve their creative skills in flower art. It is a challenging very nice course to become first designer.
Your personal creativity is developing quickly following this course. You learn to create new styles and develope your own style.

You learn more and new techniques and a lot more about materials, design, colour and all other elements of flower art.
You learn to make a: Wreath, Carr decoration, Wedding bouquets and body decoration, Floral juwelery, Historical styles, New styles Hand tied bouquets, Space decoration, Plant design, Funeral arrangements, vase and plate arrangements, Garlands and festoons, Floral Objects, Door arrangements, Desk arrangements and free style arrangements.
Productpresentatieon, Theme arrangement .
Techniques you learn are: sticking- binding- wiring- weaving- fixing- folding, plating- gluing.
You learn to work with special kind of containers and self made constructions.
The examination consists of a practice of 5 arrangements.

Advanced Dutch Floral Arrangements 2 (ADFA-2) (Theoretical diploma)

This is an excellent advanced course for those who really want to be a top florist. It is the perfection of your skills as manager. You need this course to be able to act successfully as florist.
This course is a need if you want to study for Dutch Floral Master as final study.

What you learn: On top of what you have learned in DFA-2 you learn: Specialized knowledge, Knowledge of materials, Advice to customers, Nomenclature of special species, Management, Trade and shop organisation, Shop presentation, Sales promotion, Calculation, Managing the flower shop, Staff policy, PR, Sales knowledge, Use of computer in the shop, Aesthetical training, drawing, theory of design, colour and history of art.
After this course you are a true specialist and professional in flower art.
The examination consists of a practice of 5 arrangements (same as ADFA-1) and a theoretical examination.

Proeve van Meesterschap / Dutch Master in Floral Art

After the courses DFA and ADFA-2 you can continue study for dutch Master in flower art. It is the absolute top of the study floristry and flower art in the Netherlands. This diploma is the highest level in flower art. From the start DFA-1 till Dutch master it takes about 6 years study.

VBW provide the Master diploma"Proeve van Meesterschap''.

Some other colleges do have their own master level course. Holland College in De Lier offer the diploma Dutch Floral Master.
