Since1985 Dutch flower arrangers make yearly the big flower
garden around the altar of the Pope in Rome.
This because of the feast of Eastern.
The Pope celebrates in the middle of this flower garden and flower
arrangements. More than 100.000 people on the square and millions
at home enjoy this.
The flowers are a gift of the Dutch flower and plant growers.
The Dutch promotion organisations put a lot of effort in this
decoration to show the world the beauty of Dutch flowers and plants
and the creativity of the floral designers.
Florists Nic and Charles van der Voort from the city Leiden
have the task to make the design every year. They create in 2 days
with a team of flower designers and gardeners this magnificent
garden.
Many times the plan is made also by Aad van Uffelen. He joins
the team of van der Voort every year to realise this decoration.
Many type of gardens are made. In 1992 a special symbolic garden
was made. Each year the garden has a different design and colour
combination. But essential is the meaning of Eastern to translate
in the garden.
