MPS; Dutch Floriculture environmental programme

The Dutch Floriculture environmental programme is started in1996 in the Netherlands. Now it is a world wide programme. The best quality of flowers MPS-A can also become the Dutch official environmental label (milieukeur). Wholesale and florists can have under strict rules the MPS qualification.
EUREP (Euro Retailer Produce Group, a group of super stores) has rules for GAP (Good Agricultural Practice). Growers must deliver to this quality to be able to deliver to this organisation.

MPS is an international certificate. MPS have developed an environmental standard on basis of registration of four environmental elements: minimum use of chemical crop protection, nutrition, energy and split collection of waist. MPS want to minimize damage of nature on the companies who take part of the programme. MPS also focus on safety, health and terms of employment.

MPS have developed a number of environmental friendly modules such as MPS-GAP and MPS Socially Qualified.

MPS wants:

Less energy
Less chemical crop protection

More biological and integrated protection
Less of no artificial nutrition
Split collection of waist
Better and responsible use of water

No painted flowers
Environmentally friendly wrapping material
