The super season with floral activities is yet there...
September is the greatest of all month of the year in Holland.
Fists we have the famous flower parades with as special highlights Aalsmeer and Eelde corso.
A sad year for the Aalsmeer corso because it is the last time. It started in 1905 with the first parade and now in 2007 it was the last time. We shall miss it... It was a great flower promotion for a long time. But what now?
Happely there are in Holland about 22 more flower parades.
Even one on the waterways, The Westland Varend corso. Can you immaging that it had 275.000 visitors this year.
I am happy to be able to take part in that as member of the creative team and chairman of the judge. It is amazing to see that we have around 400 volontears for this parade. Without them it is not possible to organise this huge event.
From 21 to 24 Sept. 2007 there is the yearly large
Flower art happening, Landcommanderij, Alden Biesen, Bilzen, Belgium (Belgium is our nabour country were they also speak the Dutch language) Alden Biesen is famous for its creativity and experiment.
And on 28 to 30 September 2007 there is the Europacup flower art 2007 for professional florists. Held in Velenje, slovenie. Sjacco Gerritsen is the Dutch competitor. I wish him a lot of success.

Another important event is the Dutch National Championship of flower arranging VKC
This yearly event is a fantastic experience. About 300 participants compete in different classes. As judge I am involved in this big national event for many years. Always it is a feast to see the enthusiasm of the people and the good results. Amazing what a creativity we see there. It is on 29 and 30 September in Leeuwarden (see our Calendar)
We have to enjoy flower art a lot this month.
