Description:
This arrangement is not difficult to make. The main idia is to work with line and space. Fill a vase or pot with floral foam. With the materials you create a spontaneous all sided design. Keep in mind that there stays much line and space in the arrangement. Lines may cross each other but they may not disturb each other. Essential is a good balance and harmony in the arrangement. Tthis arrangement is primarely made with leaves and green materials. Only few flowers are used.

We need for this lesson:

  • A elegant colourful vase made from ceramic or glass.
  • Choose a few type of leaves wich are in contrast in form, colour and shape.
  • One or two type of flowers to your choise. Here carnations are used.
  • The colour combination is based on green and grey colours and on pink. But you can choose other colours too.
  • String, Raffia or other binding materials we can use to bind some stems together.
  • Coloured ribbon brings us an unexpected colour element in the arrangement. Choose contrasting colours.

Step by step:

  • Soap the floral foam and fill the vase. Till the edge is OK.
  • Create with a few long stems or elegant branches the main form in the arrangement, here we have done it with Equisetum. This is bound together with rope in a open way.
  • Play with lines on all sides to create a spacefull design.
  • Try to create in the centre fine contrasts and put the pink carnations there too.
  • Cut of the stems with a sharp knife always.
  • Do not forget to refill every day the water.

Materials used:

  • 7 Equisetum japonica, 3 Eucalyptus, 2 Amaranthus, 3 Asparagus densiflorus 'Meyers, 2, 7 Dianthus caryophyllus, conifeer, 7 Hedera, roots and tendrils. Ribbon and rope.
