Merge between FloraHolland and VBA Aalsmeer

The 2 largest flower auctions in the world FloraHolland in Naaldwijk and VBA in Aalsmeer (the Netherlands) will merge. To become one big International flower auction. We will see if it comes that far. There are many questions to solve for them. The VGB (Association of wholesalers is not yet exited. Also it is not sure if the NMa will give permission.

Fair Flowers Plants

FFP or Fair Flowers Fair Plants is started their program this year.
Dutch organisation MPS tells us:
European Union statement is that it is important to grow flowers and plants in a environmentally friendly way and according to a responsible organization system

The criteria for the participation of producers are:

• Environmental requirements: MPS-A or equivalent
• Social requirements: MPS Socially Qualified or a comparable scheme, satisfying the requirements of the International Code of Conduct
• Member of FFP
• Statement of range offered
• Products have a unique number (e.g. the MPS emblem) and unique frequency
