Introduction

Information is based on a moderate climate such as in Holland.
Annuals are herb like plants, they have no wooden stems. After sowing, germinate and give flowers in the first year. The produce seed and die. In fact are in the climate of Holland some so called annuals perennials, but in the Dutch climate they cannot survive winter. In a more sub tropical or tropical climate they can live for more than one year. Annuals, or sometimes called sowing flowers are very nice in the garden to decorate the flowerbeds and planters with their colors.

Use

For flower art many species are attractive. This because of the nice and rich way of flowering and sometimes also because they have beautiful seed heads. There are also species good for drying. For plant arrangements or hanging baskets in the garden they are very good and use full. They flower when you take care for them during whole summer.
Some species also are suitable to use as a cut flower in a bouquet or flower arrangement. Water with Chrysal is advisable.

Care

Annuals are easy plants in the garden. They only need water and nutrition and you must take away the old flowers. The last let the plants flower longer and better. Also you prevent the production of seed and thus unlimited multiplying. When you cut back annuals on time, they will often flower a second time in a year. If you regularly take back the top of the plants they will flower more abundant. Also the plants stay nice and compact.
