Plants growing in the water or in a swamp or under water in a pound have specific remarks for grow and shape. We divide in general:

  • Plants growing under the water level.
  • Plants floating on the water.
  • Plants growing in the water and have roots in the bottom, the leaves and flowers are above water level.
  • Swamp plants.
  • Shore or littorial plants, growing on wet soil.

Use

In flower art  we can use several beautiful species. We think on cut flowers such as some tropical water lilies, lotus, Typha and Phragmitis. Floating species are to use in a low bowl of flat container Lotus fruits can be used fresh and dry.

Care

Water plants may not kept dry and not in warm conditions.
Flowers or leaves of some water plants can be used in flower arrangements. Be sure they stay  in water and never be in dry storage. They often live short, though this is not so for Typha and Phragmitis.
