Cut flower care

Cut flowers need a good care to be beautiful and stay a long time. Some tips for you.

Tip 1
What is better, to cut with a knife diagonal or straight or with a secateur?
Cutting with a knife both straight or diagonal is good. A diagonal cutting is more easy.
You also can cut with a sharp secateur. Never do this with blund (dull) tools.
A bouquet you best cut of with a sharp secateur.

Tip 2
Must I buy flowers in bud or open?
Do not buy flowers in too close bud stadium. This is different per species. Buds who are a bit open yet will flower better and longer.

How much Chrysal we must put in the water?
It is very important precise to use the exact amount of flower food. Flowers grow open better and stay longer.

My tulips grow in a bend shape, how do I prevent this?
Important is pre-treatment by the grower. The wholesaler and florist must use flower food and also the consumer must do this. Chrysal Clear bulb flower food prevent tulips to grow in a bend shape. Also keep temperature lower.

What is Ethylene?
Gas from cars or industry, gas from ripe fruit, old flowers, bad ventilation and ols the smoke of your own cigarette or cigar let flowers die soon.

Is chloride good for flowers?
A little bit of chloride in the water will kill bacteria, but it also give a lot of damage to flowers or kill them. Do not use it. Chloride also is very harmful for nature.

Tip 7
Narcissus together with other flowers is it possible?
Narcissus give slime in the water. This slime can give damage to other flowers. A solution is to use Chrysal Narcis.

Tip 8
Sun flowers must they on hot, warm or cold water?
After testing we know the best is cold water just from the tab. The flowers will be better and the leaves stay longer. Use Chrysal and remove most of the leaves.

Tip 9
Is it the best treatment to put Chrysanthemums and Bouvardia on very cold water in stead of warm water?
Yest, the best way is using very cold water. Cold water can keep more oxid and because of this the flower stem have less problems with air lock.

Tip 10
I use metal buckets in the flower shop to put in the flowers, is it good of bad?
This is no good. Metal such as zinc and in combination with a flower food give big problems. A sort of zinc poisoning. Use plastic buckets and put those inside the metal buckets.

Tip 11
If there are more flower stems in the water will the flowers live shorter or not?
Yes, they will live shorter. This is because there are more bacteria and debris in the water. You can prevent this and give flowers a longer life when you use Chrysal in the water.
